BCAC - "WHAT's NEW"
Latest open studio night
2nd of May 2013
Our most recent studio night was led by great friend and member of BCAC, Nina Packer. Nina gave the theme of 'Dance' encouraging our many guests to give flow to the painting. Throughout the course of the evening the painting changed drastically, veering away from it's original intention and returning into great form. See this youtube video of a short collection of photos to see how the piece developed. |

Members
One of our new members at BCAC, Daniela, is from Ecuador. Daniela has taken a month long membership, giving her 24 hours a day access to the BCAC studio.
This is a painting in pure pigments inspired by Rudolf Steiner. After completing the colors, Daniela spontaneously picked up forms and rhythms that flowed from the colors and defined them in clear black lines. Daniela's love of the mandala motif clearly flows into her imagery. IB VISUAL ART SUMMER BOOSTER COURSE
There will be an IB Booster Course, June 13 to June 18 at BCAC. The course is designed for students intending to start the two years course in 2013, and/or to give students who have already completed the first year an inspirational boost for the second year of the program.
For the full course description please click HERE. 'Medicine Woman Magic', by Daniela. 2013, mixed media.
This painting is by Daniela from Ecuador. Daniela took several classes at BCAC, focusing on color theory and art therapy. She then took a one-month membership, using the studio all day, every day. She explored pastels, acrylics, pure pigments and oil paints. Here Daniela has used all of these media. She’s has been painting “seriously” for only a year and really enjoyed the spaciousness and atmosphere of the BCAC studio, the companionship of working alongside others from around the world and Bruce’s mentorship when required. Daniela “loves BCAC” and, like so many others, she sold this painting to a collector who happened to visit the BCAC gallery.

nina packer
Nina Packer, a BCAC member and gallery artist had a one person show of her colorful portraits and figures at BCAC last year. This portrait reveals a total change or evolution of Nina's style, being for more emotionally expressive, with little or no emphasis on her more familiar, post impressionist, cubist style. This development epitomizes BCAC's basic philosophy, which emphasized change, imagination creativity and the avoidance of mere repetition.
'The Journey', by Oana, 2013, mixed media:
pigment, glue, sand. Like Daniela, Oana (from Rumania) took two courses at BCAC than enrolled for monthly memberships. She has done a couple of painting courses previously and at BCAC she found herself working much more freely. From a very hesitant beginning with color theory, Oana’s work very quickly began to expand in power, expression and in scale. Her dynamic color combinations began with complimentary harmonies
